Colorado is home sweet home to me! I was born and raised in a family of six in Colorado Springs, CO . I made my very first career choice at the age of ten when I was in 5th grade, and decided that I was going to become... a teacher! Ever since then, I have worked with children in many different capacities: from being a nanny to teaching English in an Italian elementary school. I moved out to beautiful Lawrence, KS for four fun years at the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!). Here, I majored in Elementary Education, but soon realized that living and teaching on the Great Plains did not sound too appealing after graduation...

Therefore, I quickly drove back to Denver where I began a Masters program at the University of Denver. It was through the program that I was first introduced to the wonderful teachers and students at Steck Elementary. I completed my student teaching in the 4th grade, and worked as the Literacy Class Size Relief Teacher the following school year. I enjoyed working with all students in 2nd through 5th grade, but have ultimately always had a passion and excitement for working with 5th graders. This will be my fourth year teaching 5th grade. I feel very enthusiastic about being a member of the Steck Staff, and am thankful to be a part of such a dedicated community of learners.
